MY STORY
I was born and raised in Tehran, a dynamic and modern city with breathtaking views of the Alborz mountains. I was an enthusiastic child with a great deal of curiosity and a desire for learning. As a teenager, I found comfort in literature. I was particularly fond of heroes and heroines and their adventures. Protagonists who were often supported by external forces (natural /supernatural) but above all by their internal powers. These stories sparked questions in me and ignited my desire to become a therapist.
I wondered: “Can I help others in their journey to have a happier and more fulfilling life? Can I be their guide to connect with their inner wisdom and see the light despite all the darkness”?
To be that person, I spent six years studying to become a psychologist. During my years of study, I practised as a visual artist and studied the history of art. Through my own creative quest and working with clients who found words insufficient to express their inner experiences, I felt something was missing in my professional practice. I pondered how can I marry psychology and art (two passions of my life). I came across creative art therapies when completing my master’s thesis on performance anxiety among musicians and reading about surrealism.
I migrated to Australia to study Master of Art Therapy. I also completed a transitional program to become registered as a psychologist in Australia. I worked in different capacities as a therapist and started my private practice in 2019. When I am not working, I enjoy art-making, cooking, practising yoga, spending time with friends and family, dancing and reading.
